Superior Surge 670SG NFPA Approved Firefighters Gloves
Superior 670SG Surge gloves are among the best firefighters gloves and are at the edge of current heat and cut protection technology. These fire fighter gloves are approved to NFPA 1971 2007 and exceed this standard in certain important aspects. Surge gloves for fire fighters feature several layers, including Temperblock outer layer, which is a silicone membrane laminated onto Kevlar, able to withstand 650 fegrees F, which is much higher than regular leather that is used on most other fire fighter gloves and starts to char at 475 F. Gloves feature elk split-leather backs and palm patch which extends into the thumb crotch for extra durability in that high-stress area. Elk is superior to other leathers for heat, flame and abrasion resistance, and its ruggedness makes it ideal for such extreme conditions. The entire front of the glove is made with Superior’s revolutionary Temperbloc – a heavyweight silicone-coated Kevlar - for outstanding wet/dry grip, resistance to open flame, heat, and imperviousness to liquids so gloves do not become heavy during usage. Temperbloc does not have a break-in period like leather, will not char or harden upon exposure to the extreme conditions of firefighting and is lightweight and comfortable. Gunn-cut styling features a wing thumb. Back of hand has a snug elastic band for a secure fit. Side-split Elk-skin leather welting is sewn on palm side of the two middle fingers for additional support. Continuous index-finger construction is used to eliminate exposed seams or stitching. Every pair of our Surge firefighter gloves has been leak tested according to NFPA specifications.
A fully sewn liner of Kevlar® fabric is permanently attached to a liquid-proof, Pro-Tect Pyrotect® one-way membrane bladder which is attached to the Kevlar®-lined fingers and thumb with a cmbination adhesive-reinforced tab. This bladder prevents liquid penetration longer than the established NFPA standard, and meets the standard for the prevention of viral transmission.Kevlar® is a registered trademark of E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company.
