MSA Altair Single-Gas Detector
The MSA Altair Single Gas Detector is designed for use as a warning device only and not for measuring specific gas concentrations. The Detector is to be used when performing a hazard assessment to assess potential worker exposure to specific toxic gases for which a sensor is installed and oxygen-deficient or oxygen-rich atmospheres.
This Altair single gas detector from MSA t is powered by non-replaceable and non-rechargeable lithium battery that provides 2 years of maintenance-free operation, outlasting its closest competitors. MSA ALTAIR Single-Gas Detector units will not deactivate after two years of operation but will continue to deliver performance as long as battery capacity and sensor performance allows. No other maintenance-free single-gas detector in its class can beat this performance.
The Altair Single Gas Detector comes with a selection of MSA-built Button™Toxic Gas Sensors that feature stainless steel construction and contain solid electrolyte, virtually eliminating the possibility of sensor leakage. The extremely small and thin sensor profile allows to deliver high performance in a very small package. These toxic gas sensors provide stability for the service life of the unit. The ALTAIR Single-Gas Detector oxygen version accommodates the industry-standard fast-responding 20 Series oxygen sensor.
These MSA single gas detectors come with factory-set alarm setpoints that may be modified prior to activation with a button or at any time via MSA FiveStar Link Software.
This MSA gas detector offers a simple and easy-to-read display that allows users to count down service life, see alarm conditions, set points, peak readings and check hours in alarm since activation with accuracy and confidence.
MSA Altair detectors come with a triple alarm system that leaves no doubt for the user in an alarm situation. The audio alarm is loud, at an average of 95 dB at 1 foot distance and is designed not to be confused with other workplace sounds. It also features an extended frequency range covering a wide sound spectrum for tone-deaf individuals. The visual alarm features dual, super-bright LED lights that are located on top of the instrument and can be seen from all angles or when worn inside a pocket. The numeric display shows “LO” or “HI” alarm status. A vibrating alarm comes standard with the unit and emits a pulse to call additional attention to the user when in alarm mode.
The ALTAIR Single-Gas Detector from MSA records 25 latest alarm events automatically, offering a great tool for assessment of alarm conditions. To review the alarms, the user has to connect the detector to MSA InfraRed adapter using the standard, built-in IR communication.
Optional test station is available for the MSA Altair detector - the Altair QuickCheck Station is an inexpensive test station that comes in manual or automatic versions. This station quickly verifies the functionality of the gas detector's alarm system and then performs a bump check (gas response test). This single-gas detector is also compatible with the Galaxy® Automated Test System that provides automatic calibration and record retention.
