The 3M FR-C2A1 DIN threaded canister is intended to reduce exposure to chemical and biological warfare agents and is used by the United States Military. When used with 3M FR-M40 facepieces, this cartridge is NIOSH approved for protection from sulfur dioxide, chlorine, hydrogen chloride, chloroacetophenone (CN), o-chorobenzylidene malonitrile (CS). It can also filter solid and aerosol liquid particulates (oil and non-oil based) and adsorb a wide range of chemical and warfare agents including nerve agents - tabun (GA), sarin (GB), soman (GD), VX; mustard agents - H, HD, L; tear agents - CN, CS, OC; blood agents - hydrogen cyanide (AC), cyanogen chloride (CK), arsine (SA); choking agents - chlorine, phosgene, chloropicrin (PS), and diphenylchloroarsine (DA).
FR-C2A1 canister from 3M contains a carbon bed and a P100 filter. The carbon used in this 3M canister is tested for protection from Hydrogen Cyanide, Cyanogen Chloride, Phosgene and the nerve agent simulant Dimethyl Methylphosphonate to specifications EA-C-1704. Cartridge meets the gas life criteria of U.S. MIL-PRF-51560A (EA) and MIL-DTL-32101 for chemical warfare agents. This CBRN canister can be used with 3M facepiece models FR-M40, 6000 and 7800S.
